Mary Poppins is one of my all-time, favorite movie musicals. The Lion King won Oscars and Golden Globes for the score and the original song “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.” Another memorable song, “Circle of Life,” also works well for sing-alongs, especially for people looking to really belt one out. Here’s another Disney animated movie that includes a song that nearly the entire world knows–“Hakuna Matata.” Once that song gets in your head it’s nearly impossible to get it out. The differences between the voices, and the sweetness of the animation, make the original a treasure. The animated movie is still entertaining, even though the live-action version, starring Emma Watson, is gorgeous and nearly perfect. You may not know all the words to my favorite song, “Belle,” but I defy you to find anyone on this planet who doesn’t know the first few measures of “Be Our Guest,” thanks to the movie and all of the commercials that have used that song as a jingle. The music from Beauty and the Beast is also Broadway peformance-worthy, which is why it landed on stage on the Great White Way. See also: Best Disney Movies of All Time (based on math!) Beauty and the Beastīeauty and the Beast won not only Oscars and Golden Globes for the score and the original song “Beauty and the Beast,” it also took home the Golden Globe trophy for Best Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical. The Little Mermaid won two Oscars and two Golden Globes for original score and for the song “Under the Sea,” easily the most memorable song. Not only was The Little Mermaid the first animated feature in recent history to take the Disney musicals to a Broadway level, but also has particularly memorable and catchy songs. The Frozen sing-along got me thinking about other Disney sing-along movies I love. Here are my top 5 Disney sing-along movies with YouTube videos to jog your memory (if you even need that). (Although, Anna, played by Kristen Bell, is my favorite.) It also won two Oscars, so Frozen is definitely one of Disney’s greatest movies of all-time. The soundtrack for Frozen is wonderful, with “Let It Go,” sung by the character Elsa, being the proverbial cherry on top. Sometimes they even say the lines along with them.ĭisclosure: Media Medusa receives a commission if you purchase through the affiliate links on this post, at no extra cost to you.įrozen took in over$1.2 billion at the worldwide box office. The entire audience joins in singing the songs with the movie characters. If you’ve never attended a sing-along movie it is exactly what you’re picturing. Frozen joined the ranks of the best Disney sing-along movies, in the tradition of Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sound of Music, and even “Once More with Feeling,” the Buffy the Vampire Slayer all-singing episode.
